Clinincal Specialist Physiotherapist
A former international and professional rugby union player, Nick came in to physiotherapy
as a mature student. During his time in professional sport he developed a keen interest in the body and how it works. After graduating from Northumbria University, England, Nick spent 3 years as head physiotherapist for a professional Rugby Union team before moving to continue his work in the National Health Service (NHS). Before moving to Australia with his wife at the start of 2014, Nick was a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist. This job involved advanced assessment and treatments including imaging and injection therapy. He was also heavily involved in writing some of the clinical care pathways that have since been implemented within the NHS. These pathways have been rigorously audited and proven to have significant clinical effectiveness. Nick is experienced in treating a variety of conditions including; chronic pain, sports injuries, spinal pain, shoulder problems and vestibular / balance conditions as well as rehabilitation of post operative patients.
Nick has post graduate qualifications in Mulligan techniques, Orthopaedic Medicine, Acupuncture and Musculoskeletal Joint & Soft Tissue Injection Therapy. His approach to his work utilises all these skills and he enjoys developing a personalised rehabilitation program based around his patient’s needs and expectations.
Ryan graduated in 2005 with a Masters in Physiotherapy, after previously completing a Bachelor of Human physio-profile Movement and a Graduate Diploma in Exercise Rehabilitation. He has since worked in private practice and allied health over the past 10 years. Ryan has a great deal of experience working with local sporting clubs, diagnosing injuries and using exercise as a means to rehabilitate successfully.
In 2012 Ryan suffered 2 strokes requiring 2 major brain surgeries to safe his life. Although some physical limitations have caused Ryan to alter his techniques at work, they have not hindered his ability as a physio. In fact, Ryan believes that his years of recovery and rehabilitation have made him more compassionate and understanding of patient needs.
Ryan uses a range of treatment modalities including manual therapy, dry needling and instruction of home rehab programs.
He lives in Jan Juc with his wife Dee and daughter Addis.
Shortly after completing a Bachelor of Education and working as a physical education teacher, Zac went on to complete a Doctor of Physiotherapy at Bond University on Queensland’s Gold Coast. With his background in teaching Zac aims to effectively educate his patients, empowering them to take ownership of their own health, and with his assistance, allow each and every person to reach and exceed their physical goals. Zac has experience working in gym based rehabilitation settings, where he took advantage of an active based rehab approach, something that he still incorporates into his current practices.
A firm believer of ‘practice what you preach’ Zac enjoys a physical challenge and competes in marathon running as well as half ironman and ironman triathlon. Along with this Zac has a special interest in the prevention, management and treatment of overuse injuries commonly seen in athletes, and shares his thoughts and advise of such injuries in the ‘Australian Triathlete’ magazine.
Now based in Geelong Zac is very exciting to be joining the team at Geelong Performance Physio and looks forward to the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead.
